Sri Lanka Red Cross provides assistance to the people affected by the recent bombings

According to reports, the death toll of the eight (08) blasts which occurred on Sunday 21st April 2019 in Sri Lanka has risen to 350 as of 24th April 2019. 35 foreign nationals were among the deceased. Over and 500 people were injured due to this incident.

The Sri Lanka Red Cross society is continuously providing its relief services following the attack.

Our Colombo Branch volunteers are supporting the hospital authorities at the National Hospital in Colombo on body management task.

RFL (Restoring Family Links) Response

Our RFL unit (Restoring Family Links) has been continuously working on tracing the missing persons with the support from the authorities. SLRCS is supporting to restore contact among family members who have been separated as a result of these incidents. The SLRCS is proactively in contact with the patients in the hospital especially with foreigners to offer phone calls and tracing services for those who wants to reestablish contact with their loved ones. The SLRCS responded by deploying trained RFL volunteers.

Gampaha Branch of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society provided first aid and other relief services at Katuwapitiya in Negombo today.
