Sri Lanka: President wants displaced persons resettled early - Basil Rajapaksa

Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa has said that the firm commitment of the President and the Government was to ensure the early resettlement of displaced Northern civilians.

Rajapaksa said as assured by the President, the Government was taking all initiatives to restore the legitimate rights of the displaced . The granting of equipment was attributed to the recognition of the Government by the United Nations.

He added that it should be mentioned that the distribution was also an endorsement of the Government's programme.

He was speaking while accepting machines for the removal of landmines in the North. The consignment of 200 machines for the detection of bombs. The machines were valued at 20 million rupees.
