Sri Lanka: Indian relief for IDPs arrives in Colombo harbour

The India has provided 1,700 tonnes of relief supplies for civilians in Sri Lanka's liberation areas in north, Indian diplomatic sources said yesterday (16).

An Indian Shipping Corp vessel carrying the first consignment of relief items meant for the displaced people, reached the Colombo harbour late Saturday, sources added.

The cargo is to be distributed primarily through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The relief assistance has come in 100 containers and the unloading of the cargo will commence Monday, it was revealed.
