Sri Lanka: Humanitarian assistance to the wind affected in Puttalam

Sri Lanka Red Cross Society has commenced provision of humanitarian assistance to some families affected by strong winds that prevailed on Saturday (3rd) afternoon in Puttalam District. The SLRCS Puttalam branch reported that over 400 families affected and the branch responding to immediate requirements provided tents, hygiene packs, sarongs and sleeping mats to 20 families on 3rd.

The National Head Quarters of SLRCS today allocated funds to the Puttalam branch to facilitate to its humanitarian assistance and has made arrangements to send 20 temporary tents and 20 tarpaulin sheets fulfilling the part of the total requirement.

Meanwhile the SLRCS Gampaha branch has provided 10 tarpaulin sheets to affected in Biyagama by strong winds.

The Disaster Management department of SLRCS responding to adverse weather conditions had alerted the branches to be vigilant of impending disaster situations.
