1. AT 1400 HRS LOCAL (07.30 HRS GMT) TIME, CYCLONE HIT POTHUVIL ON EASTERN COAST WITH WIND SPEED OF 120 KM/HOUR. CYCLONE MOVING WEST AT REDUCED SPEED.

2. HEAVY RAINS FOLLOWING IN WAKE OF CYCLONE WHICH IS EXPECTED TO REACH COLOMBO AT MIDNIGHT LOCAL TIME.

3. GOVT SENDING RADIO WARNING MESSAGES. UN DISASTER EMERGENCY TEAM ON STANDBY KEEPING TRACK OF ALL INFORMATION AVAILABLE.

1. CYCLONE WHICH HIT EASTERN COAST ON 12 NOV LEFT SRI LANKA AT 01.30 HRS LOCAL TIME ON 13 NOV. HEAVY RAINFALL CONTINUES THROUGHOUT COUNTRY.

2. 3 PERSONS REPORTED DEAD. DAMAGE TO HOUSING AND LINES OF COMMUNICATIONS.

3. RATNAPURA DISTRICTS: LOW LYING PARTS FLOODED. BADULLA AND
NUWARA ELIYA DISTRICTS: DAMAGE TO RAILWAY AND ROAD NETWORK.

4. PRIME MINISTER HEADING A RELIEF COORDINATING COMMITTEE AND DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES MONITORS SITUATION TO PROVIDE RELIEF AS NECESSARY. UN DISASTER MANAGEMENT TEAM CONTINUES
MONITORING OF DAMAGE ASSESSMENTS.
