Red Cross launches Rs.40 million worth project to improve Padaviya Base Hospital

A Red Cross Project to construct a new building complex for the Padaviya Base Hospital in Anuradhapura was launched yesterday. (2nd June)

The foundation stone for the proposed building complex was laid with the presence of many dignitaries.

The proposed building will house an outdoor patients unit, wards complex, Administrative office, and public toilets with the financial assistance of 40 million Rupees from the European Union and the German Red Cross.

Coordinating Secretary Parliamentary Affairs to H.E the President Kumarasi Hettige, Hony.President of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society Jagath Abeysinghe, Head of Services & Operations Col. Sudath Madugalle, President of SLRCS Anuradhapura Branch E.A. Thilkaratne, Branch Secretary Ajith Sooriyabandara, Local Government MPs, Health Officials, and representatives of the German Red Cross and the EU were also present at the foundation stone laying ceremony.

Meanwhile, The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society also distributed mosquito nets for pregnant mothers and clay water filters in the area coincide to the event as well.

Moreover school texts books were distributed among the school children studying at the Padaviya, Phase 4, Anura Vidayalaya later in the day.
