In the context of emergency relief for the District of Trincomalee, Malteser International has already assured the supply of drinking water for the people of Seenanveli.
"The planning for the reconstruction of about 100 new houses and the renovation of further 100 houses is in good progress as well as the village development and the building of community institutions" says Ingo Radtke, Secretary General of Malteser International. "Special programmes in order to support teenagers through sports events like football will be realised due to the cooperation with Bayern M=FCnchen . These programmes are a particular concern to us."
The construction of sports institutions is part of the rehabilitation works in the devastated region along the northeast coast of Sri Lanka. This focuses mainly upon football activities that are supposed to improve the tolerance and understanding amongst young people of different ethnical and religious groups.
Willi Gerner, Executive Chairman of FC Bayern Hilfe e.V., emphasised the excellent cooperation with Malteser International and is expecting a long-lasting partnership for further relief actions for people in need.
