From the Skies to Communities: UNHAS South Sudan 2025 Highlights

In 2025, UNHAS South Sudan provided vital support to 217 humanitarian organizations, transporting over 49,000 passengers and meeting 96% of bookings despite a challenging operational environment. The service facilitated emergency evacuations, relocating 193 passengers for security reasons, including 87 humanitarian personnel evacuated from Kadugli,Sudan while also supporting responses to floods, cholera outbreaks, and the security crisis in Upper Nile. Operational capacity was strengthened with the addition of a Twin Otter aircraft, enabling access to deep‑field locations and enhancing cost‑effectiveness during the rainy season.

Throughout the year, UNHAS reinforced its commitment to safety, efficiency, and user engagement. Steering and User Group Committee meetings addressed access, funding, and compliance, while aviation safety sessions promoted best practices with partners. Training initiatives reached 140 staff and partners, including refresher courses on disability inclusion. Service visibility was enhanced through targeted communications, and donor support was secured to rehabilitate helicopter destinations, aligning with global efficiency strategies. With a 98% user satisfaction rate, UNHAS concluded the year as a reliable and responsive service for the humanitarian community in South Sudan.
