As of 30th April, 23,611 people, including 13,000 children, crossed the border into South Sudan, fleeing the conflict in Sudan. Of those arriving, 88 per cent are returnees.

In response to the Sudan crisis, UNICEF and partners immediately scaled up integrated services to returnees and refugees in border locations and transit sites, including establishing Health, Nutrition, Child Protection, Education and Social and Behavioral Change services.

In April, UNICEF and partners reached 8,000 children (4,278 girls) and over 3,000 adults (2,112 women) with psychosocial support (PSS) activities.
