EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Maban County is among the thirteen counties of Upper Nile State that is located to the Northeast corner of the Republic of South Sudan. The County shares two international borders i.e., Sudan to the east and Ethiopia in the vincinty of eastward. Domestically, Maban borders four counties i.e., Longechuk (Southeast), Baliet (Southwest), Melut (West), and Renk (North). Administractively, the county is divided into five payams of Khor Al Amer, Jinmagda, Jinkuata, Bunj, and Benashowa. Maban County hosts Forcibly Displaced and stateless Persons (FDSPs) who fled from Blue Nile State and some parts of Sudan due to political conflicts. The FDSPs are settled in four refugee camps namely Doro (established in November 2011), Gendrassa (established in July 2012), Yusuf Batil (established in May 2012), and Kaya (established in May 2013). As of 31st March 2024, the total population of the FDSPs registered in the four refugee camps was 201,419 with 41,696 households and 40,751 children U5 years. (Source: UNHCR ProGres).
