South Sudan - Yangiri Payam, Ezo County: Fact Finding Inter-Agency Assessment Mission - 21 October 2021

Due to conflict that happen in Tambura County from June 2021to date, influxes of IDPs have been reported across all Payams of Tambura and other County of WES. Yangiri is one of the Payams of Ezo County where IDPs from Mupoi, and Moso Payams have been hosting since the onset of fighting in Tambura. IDPs populations have been in Yangiri for over three months with no support from both the Government or humanitarian organizations. Essential supplies within existing services have been depleted and IDPs have been largely supported by already strained host communities, whose capacities have also been exhausted.
Following a request from RRC State Chairperson to OCHA regarding Yangiri IDPs, OCHA organized an inter-agency fact finding mission to Yangiri Payam of Ezo County which is hosting an estimate of 6000 IDPs. There were new arrivals in Yangiri following fighting that erupted on 19th October in Mosso forcing the population to re-displace from Mosso into Yangiri, originally most the displaced people were from Mupoi and the surrounding areas.

The following humanitarian consequences were identified:

• Estimated number of affected HH is 1200 approximately 6000 persons.

• The violence resulted in burning, looting and destruction of civilian and humanitarian infrastructure, with several villages reported completed burnt. There are significant numbers of reports and eye witness accounts of killing of civilians brutally to force displaced and cause terror.

• Those who fled Mupoi and Moso during the conflict looks frighten and have expressed that they may move further south if they have means. IDPs who have fled for their safety, left with no possessions and are highly traumatized by the events that have taken place.
