At’ Tadamon locality is a priority area identified as in need of emergency assistance in South Kordofan state. It’s made of four administrative areas namely: Al-Terter, Wakara, Al’Omkheirate, and Balula. At’ Tadamon has a total of 191461 individuals (Locality department of Health planning figures, Ministry of Health 2021). And host an estimated 1,025 refugees registered from South Sudan (UNHCR-2022) and 780 IDPs from different parts of Sudan including Darfur. Despite over 90% of the community drawing livelihoods from subsistence farming (90%) and 10% accounting for mining /others (TGH Assessment report -2021), an estimated 25% of the households in the locality have significant food energy gaps or livelihood change strategies with potential consequence to endanger lives or livelihoods (Sudan HNO-2022).
Protected water infrastructure functionality in At’ Tadamon reviewed by TGH in March -2022 has revealed that an estimated 74% of the 250 Indian Mark II handpumps are either not working or on the verge of irrecoverable condition exacerbated by the worsening economic crisis, aging infrastructure, and increased operation maintenance costs attributed to an increase in fuel prices and fiscal inflation.
In a recent report, DTM Sudan activated EET to monitor the displacement of individuals affected by heavy rains in South Kordofan, which led to flooding in Wakra, in At Tadamon locality, South Kordofan on 11 May 2022. The first EET update estimates a total number of 1,020 IDPs (170 households) currently seeking shelter in Hai Al Wehda village (59%) and Hai Alkukah village (41%) in Wakra, in At Tadamon locality, South Kordofan. The IDP caseload was originally displaced from various locations across the same villages.
Field teams indicate there have been no injuries and no deaths. All displaced individuals are Sudanese nationals. At least 46 cases of additional vulnerabilities in need of assistance and support were identified by key informants through DTM’s protection indicator. Additionally, DTM Sudan estimates that there are approximately 153 persons with disabilities among the IDP caseload. Based on a ranking scale, the three priority needs across the caseload are Emergency Shelter, Health (Medical needs), and Non-Food Items.
The assessment team found out that a total of 211 households (181 households host community, 27 households IDPs, and 3 households’ refugees) were affected by the recent heavy rain and rainstorms in Wakara Village.
