This IRNA report present findings of Inter-Agency Coordinated Assessment conducted by partners and government authorities on flash flood affected communities that were displaced from Unity State, Panyijar County. South Sudan is facing devastating flash flood effects that has affected most part of Upper Niles, Unity, Jonglei and as well as some parts of Lakes State. The IDP’s that were fleeing devastating effect of floods and other natural hazards are currently being hosted in Yirol East county of Lakes State. Yirol East County is located in Lakes State, bordering Yirol West to the south, Awerial County to the east, and Panyijar to the north. The inhabitants of this county are Ciec, Jang, Kuecthii and Kuecdit which are the major subsections. Languages spoken is Dinka. These communities are subsistent farmers and pastoralists.
The international and national organizations that took part in this assessment that was initiated by Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) in Yirol East office includes; Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), HELP, Catholic Relief Service (CRS), HAGI, CINA, AMA, DOR (CARITAS) and TOCH among others. The newly displaced IDPs are estimated to be 192 households and 824 individuals as confirmed by the assessment team and the RRC report. According to RRC, some of the IDPs who have relatives in Adior and other Payams got integrated into families. During the assessment, the various cluster partners took a sample size of 48 households in Nyang to be reached with interviews.
