Achievements and Impact

  • On 20 June 2018 World Refugee Day was commemorated across various refugee camps and settlements in South Sudan. In Juba, UNHCR organised the celebration of World Refugee day at Representation office. The occasion was well attended by senior government officials including the Minister of Interior, donors, partners, some UN agencies as well as refugees and members of the public. Highlights of the event included speeches by the UNHCR Representative in South Sudan, Johann Siffointe, and Deputy Commissioner for Refugee Affairs (CRA) and the Minister of Interior. The celebrations included, music performances and dancing. Also, the celebrations provided an opportunity for refugees to showcase their dances to the general public.
