Overview
From late August to early September 2022, there has been severe rain fall allover South Sudan, more especially in Western Equatoria Sate where it has rained throughout the past two weeks’ time severely. Due to this heavy rainfall the rivers within the State seems to be rising which has resulted to heavy flooding in the Eastern Counties of Mundri West and Mvolo.
Mundri West County
During the early days of September 2022, the heavy rainfall in Mundri West County led to high rise of water overflow and flooded large area with in Mundri Central Payam (Hai Garangala,
Foki, Kuna, Gbugbuwa, Lendrewa, Matara A and B, Ngolowa, Mbara, Ngullu and Tarawa),
Kotobi, Amadi and Bangolo Payams. The flooding started on date 7th Sept 2022 in Bangolo, 8th Sept 2022 in Kotobi, 9th Sept 2022 in Amadi and on 10th Sept 2022 in Mundri Central Payam. A total of 6,631 Households and 39,786 individuals (15,086 male and 24,700 female) displaced within Mundri West County.
