  • The UN released the South Sudan Flood Preparedness and Response Plan to mitigate and respond to the effects of flooding expected to begin in July. The plan requests $269.2 million to reach an estimated 2.4 million people most vulnerable to the effects of flooding.
  • Above-average rainfall during the June-to- September rainy season will likely result in flooding across South Sudan and increase the risk of Famine—IPC 5—in flood-prone areas, according to FEWS NET.
  • More than 1,000 people were crossing the border into South Sudan daily near Upper Nile State’s Renk transit center as of July, overwhelming humanitarian assistance capacity.
