  • Approximately 6.1 million people are currently facing Crisis—IPC 3—or worse levels of acute food insecurity, with acute food insecurity projected to increase to an estimated 7.7 million people during the April-to-July 2025 lean season, according to a November IPC analysis.

  • The UN 2025 HNRP for South Sudan estimates 9.3 million people in the country will require humanitarian assistance in 2025, with approximately 5.4 million people targeted for humanitarian assistance.

  • Cholera continues to spread throughout South Sudan, with six out of ten states reporting 2,555 cumulative suspected or confirmed cholera cases, including in and around South Sudan’s capital city of Juba, as of December 10, according to WHO.
