The sheer scale of the refugee influx from September 2016 quickly filled the existing camps in the Gambella region to capacity and forced the Government and UNHCR to open new camps.
The number of cases of children under five years with severe acute malnutrition has seen a 350% increase since 2013. Extreme levels of food insecurity are expected to continue in 2017.
