Jonglei State has been receiving heavy rains and unprecedented overflow of river Nile into settlements along the riverside and at the lowlands areas. The last year flood level which was reported to be between 1.5 Metres to 2 metres prompting massive population movement from all corners of Jonglei state though had worsen some parts of Bor South, Twic East, Duk, and Ayod, and Fangak. However, the flood level gradually dropped early this year between March to April and people started returning to some places of origin including around Bor town, & Baidit payam of Bor South and Panyagor in Twic East county.

Subsequently, the water level continue to increase with increased in the number rains at the onset of the rainy season from June and July. This resulted in the increased in the level of flood water in the areas along the River Nile as well as in the rain water level considering absence of drainage system to help drain the rain water to the river and hence residential areas got water-logged.

As of recent, the overflow of the Nile river resulted to increased in the flood water level in areas along the Rivel Nile in Bor town including Hai Machuor, panlieet, Leudier, Langbaar C, Malou, Achingdiir, Langbaar and displaced the population that have already returned to those areas between starting July this year. While the second dimension was the arrays of swamping within the residential areas of Fanjak, lekyaak, Negil, Langbaar (A & D) which have been taken over and swapped by the rainwater without outlet or drainage channel.
