Quarter 3 Accomplishments

During Quarter 3, IOM rapidly scaled up mobile interventions of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention in remote locations and continued to operate in seven different states of the country. In addition, IOM manages 50 percent of the WASH Core Pipeline in South Sudan, successfully supporting the WASH Cluster and humanitarian partners to maintain a high level of preparedness.

Gender-Based Violence Prevention Mainstreaming

  • IOM conducted safety audits for all the rehabilitated and constructed WASH facilities to improve the safety of women and girls from GBV

  • 35 IOM and partner staff trained on GBV prevention and response

  • 251 women members of water management committees, community hygiene promoters and livelihoods groups trained on women’s leadership and confidence building

  • 130 women and girls trained on business skills and provided with start-up kits to improve their economic situation
