MONTHLY OVERVIEW

DTM

  • Four FMPs (Bazi, Okaba, Lasu and Tokori) temporarily closed operations as a precautionary measure following the 27 October incident in Isebi, Morobo County. Of these, Bazi and Okaba resumed operations on 18 November while Lasu and Tokori remain inactive. Twenty-two additional EVD-dedicated FMPs continued operating at the borders with DRC, Uganda and CAR, of these, 6 were operated in cooperation with DTM Uganda on the Ugandan side of the border
  • DTM rolled out an improved version of its FMR questionnaire, delivering refresher trainings in Kajo-Keji, Morobo, Yei and Yambio which also included dedicated sessions on EVD symptoms and transmission and on Protection, PSEA and GBV prevention
  • DTM and MHU jointly facilitated two participatory mapping workshops led by MoH officials in Juba and Yei, with the aim of informing the 2020 National Preparedness Plan for EVD. The workshops validated FMP findings on the key mobility channels at risk of EVD transmission and gathered qualitative data that was used to prioritize PoEs and points of congregation from a mobility and public health perspective

HEALTH

  • A joint delegation led by the MoH and conducted a joint visit to Nimule on the 21st November on the process of the take-over support of the Nimule PoEs (check point and Panjala docking station). The team met with the State Task Force Members as well as immigration to ensure a smooth process. During this month, IOM has been supporting the PoEs previously managed by the WHO including the Juba International Airport, Wau Movcon and the ones in Nimule. Active screening is ongoing in 16 active IOM-supported PoE sites in Yei and Morobo sites

WASH

  • IOM team completed 2 school hygiene club trainings for a total of 30 pupils and 4 teachers. The school hygiene clubs are a means of enhancing child to child hygiene promotion and basic EVD risk communication among school children with the oversight of trained school hygiene club teachers as patrons
  • IOM conducted 2 community engagement meetings in Marakonye and Gimunu Bomas, Yei county with participation of 85 key informants and community leaders to receive their feedbacks, identify gaps of the IOM social mobilization and record the best practices. IOM cumulatively reached 257 key informants and community leaders in 7 counties of Yei, Morobo and Kajokeji
  • IOM conducted EVD orientation trainings in Kerwa for 20 community leaders and key informants during this reporting period, which reached cumulatively 72 key informants
  • IOM team continued to support IPC/WASH activities at the 12 PoEs (Yei Airstrip, SSRRC, Kaya, Salia Musalla, Morobo, Bazi, Kerwa, Pure, Khorijho, Khor kaya, Bori and Berigo as well as 7 health facilities (Yei state hospital, Kaya PHCC, Rhodoba PHCU, Panyume PHCC, Kerwa PHCC, Khorijho PHCU and Morobo PHCC). As part of the support to health facilities, IOM conducted health facility assessments at the 7 health facilities and supplied various IPC/WASH materials to Panyume PHCC in Kajokeji county and Yei state hospitals
