Background
The Food Security and Nutrition Monitoring System (FSNMS) is a nationwide inter-agency assessment exercise established to monitor key Food Security and Nutrition indicators at household and individual levels with the goal of informing humanitarian response in South Sudan. The exercise is the collaborative effort of WFP, FAO, and UNICEF working with governmental and non-governmental partners. The thirtieth round of the FSNMS was conducted from June 27, 2024, to September 11, 2024. It involved surveys of 8,649 households across the country with sample selection conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) based on a sample design which allowed for statistically representative results for key Food Security indicators at national, state, and county level. The sampling size was designed by considering 95 percent confidence interval, a margin of error of 10 percent. Random selection of clusters or enumeration areas (EA) was done at the first stage of a two-stage stratified cluster sampling and households were randomly selected at the second stage. Following the FSNMS data collection effort, data cleaning and analysis were conducted collaboratively by WFP, FAO, and UNICEF. The results of the analysis are included below.
