Attachments

South Sudan is currently facing a complex humanitarian crisis characterized by extensive internal displacements. The underlying causes of these displacement dynamics are varied and include communal clashes, flooding, insecurity, violence, natural disasters, and cross-border movements.

Between 1 and 31 December 2024, enumerators from the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) documented significant disaster (flood) related displacements affecting 20,109 individuals. Warrap State accounted for the majority of these displacements, with 17,099 individuals displaced to Twic County. In Unity State, 3,010 individuals were displaced, including 1,597 in Rubkona County and 1,413 in Mayiendit County.

The effect of these displacements calls for urgent humanitarian intervention among the affected population. Those who have been displaced identified their most pressing needs as health, shelter, and food.
