Two injured in landmine explosion in Bor

(24th August, 2013) Two women have been injured in a landmine explosion in Bor town, Jonglei State.

The women were cooking in the Langbhar area of the town when the mine exploded.

The State Minister of Law Enforcement, Gabriel Dup Lam explained that nobody was killed during the incident but two people sustained minor injuries.

“The explosion in the area of Langbar wounded two ladies, their injuries are not serious and they are now in Bor hospital luckily enough, nobody died,” he said

“We are calling upon the South Sudan land mine action team to come and revisit the area so that Jonglei State will be free of land mines.”

The Langbhar residential area is known to have been the site of a military base during the civil war.
