• People continued to be displaced into Unity State by the insecurity in Southern Kordofan, with approximately 4,000 persons reportedly having arrived since 15 August.

• Health authorities and partners are concerned about a doubling of malaria cases in the country, particularly in areas hosting high numbers of returnees and displaced people.

• A renewed outbreak of inter-communal fighting was reported in Uror County in Jonglei on 18 August, highlighting ongoing tensions between the Murle and Lou Nuer.
