Shortage of safe drinking water in Upper Nile

(16th March 2013) - Residents of Chomudi Payam -Renk County in Upper Nile State are complaining of shortage on safe drinking water.

Some residents, who spoke to Radio Miraya said that there is only one borehole to supply all the people in the Payam.

Awatif Al Hadi and Akkuei Dok Akuei said that water collected by hand pump has a high concentration of salt making it unfit for human consumption.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of Renk County Gut Akuai said that humanitarian organizations have conducted a survey in Chomudi Payam with the aim of digging more bore-holes to meet the needs of the local population.
