The United Nations Children's Emergency Fund – UNICEF has said that the ongoing polio Immunization campaign in Western Bahr El Ghazal State is targeting over one hundred thousand children from the age of five and below.
Speaking to Radio Miraya on Wednesday in Wau, UNICEF Zone Officer, Tom White, said the turnout has been impressive and called on parents to send their children to the nearest vaccination center.
"for the polio in this round, the working figure is one hundred and thirty two thousand four hundred and eighty six under five year old children the last day of the campaign is the first of March, in fact it is the campaign that is covering the whole of the country and as we are discussing here the whole of western Bahr El Ghazal is being targeted hopefully reaching every under five year old child in every community. So far so good if your child has not been vaccinated then find the next vaccinator".
He said, the campaign is a joint operation between World Health organization, UNICEF and the State Ministry of Health.
