Disarmament process to start in Jonglei state

The minister of local government and Law Enforcement Agencies in Jonglei State, Diing Akol Diing, has asked the people of the state to voluntarily hand over all illegal arms to the government.

Akol said that the government is urging the poupation to disarm themeslves however other measures will be taken if people don't comply with the appeal.

Akol urges all organized forces and the Sudan People Liberation Army (SPLA) to speed up moving into their respective areas of deployment to disarm all communities immediately.

Minister Diing warns individuals who may resist the disarmament, saying that disarming forces are instructed to use force against them.

Diing said state and national governments will protect the disarmed population.
