At least 3,000 people in South Sudan are at the risk of starvation unless immediate measures are put in place.
The worrying statistics are from a report released by the ministry of agriculture which was presented to the Council of ministers on Friday.
The meeting was chaired by the Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, Riek Machar Teny.
The Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Barnaba Marial Benjamin, in a press statement after the meeting said the Council directed the ministers of Agriculture and Forestry and Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management to make preparations to address the food shortage.
