2000 rebels reintegrated into SPLA

The process of integration of about two thousand troops of former renegade rebel leaders Peter Gadet, Gadluk Gai and Gabriel Tangiya is being carried out in Mapel area, 70km east of Wau town.

The SPLA Sector I in Mapel Deputy Commander Brigader Gen Galiuk Galwak told Radio Miraya, that the screening process includes registration, verification and examination of all applicants. He said these are pre-condition for further integration.

He said that the integration is in line with the agreement reached between the government and former rebel leaders including Peter Gadet last year.

He added that currently there are four militia groups which are prepared for integration into regular SPLA troops.

The integration process which commenced on 22nd January 2012 will continue for 15 days.
