  • Several wildfires have been affecting the KwaZulu-Natal province, north-eastern South Africa since 14 July, causing casualties and damage.
  • Media report, as of 17 July, six fatalities (firefighters) and two severely injured persons (also firefighters) across the Boston town area and the Howick town area, central KwaZulu-Natal province, both near Durban city area.
  • Over the next 24 hours, according to the JRC Global Wildfires Information System (GWIS), the fire danger forecast is expected from high to extreme across most of the KwaZulu-Natal province.
