The death toll due to the flooding caused by heavy rainfall, which has been hitting the eastern and southern provinces of South Africa since 9-10 June, has increased.
According to media reports, as of 16 June, at least 88 people died and 1,000 people have been displaced in the Eastern Cape province of south-eastern South Africa, severe damage to infrastructures and roads has also been reported.
On 16-17 June, drier conditions are expected over the whole of South Africa.
