631,000 people across 32 districts have been affected by floods since the beginning of the 2023 Gu rains. 247,000 have people been displaced from their homes.
WFP completed regular cash-based transfers worth USD 738,000 for 63,000 flood-affected people and delivered 54 mt of one-off food assistance top-up (high-energy biscuits) to 60,000 people in Belet Weyne.
WFP reached 3.1 million people with life-saving humanitarian food assistance, including 1.6 million people who received general food assistance (GFA) through cash transfers and 628,000 people through in-kind support. Another 908,000 vulnerable drought-affected people were served under an expansion of the national safety net programme.
WFP’s nutrition support increased by 40 percent and reached 1.1 million people, including children under five and pregnant and lactating women.
