In December, WFP reached 967,000 people in Somalia with 4,726 metric tons of food and USD 11 million in cash transfers. Among them, 177,000 children under five and pregnant or breastfeeding women and girls received specialized nutrition support to prevent and manage acute malnutrition. WFP’s school meals programme assisted 120,000 children, providing nutritious meals that promote learning and well-being. By sourcing food locally, the programme injected nearly USD 800,000 into the economy, benefiting smallholder farmers and strengthening local food systems.
