Overview
From August to October 2024, WARDI has driven impactful interventions across health, nutrition, food security, livelihoods, and WASH, reaching thousands of Somali families. In September, over 14,000 vulnerable individuals, particularly malnourished children and pregnant women, accessed essential health services through our 17 health facilities, benefiting from targeted support in nutrition, maternal health, and hygiene.
In October, our malaria prevention efforts provided 294,000 households in Beledweyne and nearby districts with LongLasting Insecticidal Nets to protect against disease, while collaborative work with local health partners enhanced service delivery and referral systems.
Our food security and livelihoods programs empowered 2,380 beneficiaries in Hiran, Middle Shabelle, and Lower Shabelle regions, emphasizing sustainable farming and women’s economic resilience. With critical training, 780 women gained literacy and business skills, and 630 households received livestock and seeds to boost food security.
In WASH, we completed a solar-powered borehole in Diriye Hassan village, delivering 10,000 liters of clean water daily to the community. Additionally, water trucking provided 3,620 drought-affected households with 50 liters daily from September to October, bringing essential relief
