U.N. aid workers freed after kidnap in Somalia

MOGADISHU, March 16 (Reuters) - Four United Nations aid workers kidnapped on Monday in southern Somalia have been freed, the spokesman for hardline Islamist insurgents al Shabaab said.

"I can confirm to you that all four aid workers were released from militia who abducted them in Wajid this morning -- unconditionally after a joint effort," said Sheikh Muktar Robow Mansoor.

"They are now with me with their luggage and we are going to hand over the U.N. officers soon. They are free now," he told Reuters.
