OVERVIEW
During the reporting period, the WASH Cluster and its partners continued to deliver critical water, sanitation, and hygiene services to thousands of individuals across Somalia. These eorts included improving access to sustainable water sources for 152K people (27K women and 99K children) and providing temporary water supplies to 119K individuals (21K women and 77K children). Additionally, 49K people (9K women and 32K children) gained access to sanitation facilities, while hygiene kit distributions and hygiene promotion activities beneted around 218K individuals (39K women and 141K children). With the late onset of the GU rains in some parts of Somalia, the drought situation in Somalia is worsening, with increased water shortages being reported by multiple partners. Despite funding constraints, the WASH Cluster has continued to support drought-aected communities, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host populations, in addressing their urgent WASH needs. Due to limited funding, cluster partners remain focused on the most critical areas. For example, Action Aid is responding in Farlinbax, Hiraan region, by providing emergency water supplies, as the community reached out to the cluster due to severe water shortages. Coordination and resource allocation have been crucial in these eorts, with seven sub-national coordination meetings held to address emergency alerts, assess needs, identify gaps, and review the progress of ongoing responses.
