4. Introduction/background information:

Shardo is non governmental and non profit organization operating in south central Somalia, having offices in Mogadishu, Jowhar and Warsheik districts. SHARDO's activities is facilitated by some of international and UN agencies, SHARDO have partner relationship with many international and UN agencies including UNICEF assisting primary health care in Warsheik district, Somali intellectual Banadir Organization (SIBO) assisted primary education program in Warsheik district and Gotenborg Initiative (GI) assisting vocational training project for five sites such as: Karan north of Mogadishu, Jowhar Warsheik & Mahaday of Middle shabelle region, and Jalalqsi of Hiran region. SHARDO is community owned and made endorsement and recognition by the local authority and community of south and central regions.

Shardo had made an agreement with UNICEF small scale projects bases primary health care to establish in Warsheik district of Middle shabelle region mid of 2005, the office of UNICEF in Somalia is funding primary health care project in the Warsheik district of middle shabelle, the project duration is 12 months, the aim of the project was to reduce malnutrition and protect women and child care and prepare basic primary health services for more 22,000 people living in and around the district of which 880 are infants (u1) 4400 of the population are children under five years where as 1,100 of the population are pregnant mothers.

Same projects have been accomplished on yearly bases with the assistance of UNICEF support during the years from 2006, 2007. So this project is the continuation of the previous project activities of the primary health care in the district.

5. Objectives of the project:

1. Protect women and child.
2. Secure of the motherhood life.
3. .Malaria control.
4. Enhancing training practice of food demonstration.
5. Prepare proper vitamin for mother and child care.
6. Observing breast feeding for the born child during of delivering period.
7. Building capacity of vulnerable women and other aged people.
