The Logistics Cluster is mandated to provide logistics coordination, information management; and, where there is a gap in logistics infrastructure, it acts as a ‘Provider of Last Resort’ by offering common logistics services to support the humanitarian community in their response operations.

Highlights of Air Operation

  • The second phase of the airlift operations was completed on 24January2015with a total of 435mt having been airlifted on behalf of 8 agencies. These include:Save the Children, SOS, IOM, Trocaire, World Vision, UNHCR, UNICEF and WFP. The cargo aircraft will continue to be available to humanitarian organizations and is currently based in Mogadishu. Bookings are done on cost recovery basis and so far Trocaire, UNICEF and WFP have airlifted a total of 225mt life saving supplies to various destinations in South/Central Somalia.
