The Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) has so far allocated $28 million for life saving interventions by funding 53 partners. In immediate response to predicted flooding and devastating drought conditions, the SHF has allocated funds through one pilot anticipatory action reserve allocation and one standard allocation, complemented by one CERF allocation of $2 million that provided critical resources to respond to the cholera outbreak, as the onset of the Gu rains in early April threatened to expand transmission into previously unaffected regions. In 2024, the life-saving humanitarian response focuses on underserved and hard to reach areas. The standard allocation has piloted the Integrated Response Framework (IFR) and implemented multisectoral responses to prevent the deterioration in severity of needs. Inclusion of women and girls and people with disabilities is ensured in every allocation. 90 per cent of the projects contribute in various ways to gender equality. Direct implementation through national NGOs and strengthening localization remained a priority as 78 per cent of partners funded are national NGOs. The SHF continues to demonstrate its agility, in rapidly supporting the response to the recurrent climatic shocks with support from donor countries that enable the Fund to benefit people in need under various interventions.
