The Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) has so far allocated USD 33.3 million for life saving interven-tions by funding 58 partners. In immediate response to predicted flooding, devastating drought conditions and the need to enhance safety, security and coordination, the SHF has allocated funds through three reserve allocations and one standard allocation, complemented by three CERF allocations of USD 2 million, USD3 million and USD5 million each that provided critical resources to respond to the cholera outbreak, provided urgent response to displacement and helped mitigate the impact of projected below-average rains and La Niña conditions, respectively. In 2024, the life-saving humanitarian response focused on underserved and hard to reach areas. The USD25 million standard allocation piloted the Integrated Response Framework (IFR) and implemented multisectoral responses to prevent the deterioration in severity of needs. Inclusion of women and girls and people with disabili-ties is ensured in every allocation. 90 per cent of the projects contribute in various ways to gender equality. Direct implementation through national NGOs and strengthening localization remained a priority as 79 per cent of the funds were channelled to national NGOs. The SHF continues to demon-strate its agility in rapidly supporting the response to the recurrent climatic shocks with support from donor countries that enable the Fund to benefit people in need, under various interventions.
