The Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) has so far allocated $31 million for life-saving interventions by funding 49 partners. In immediate response to the devastating drought conditions, the effects of conflict, cholera and floods in Somalia, the SHF has allocated funds through one standard and three reserve allocations, complemented by two CERF allocations of $ 25 million that allowed implementing partners' early action to save lives, alleviate suffering, reduce displacement and provide assistance.

In 2023, the life-saving humanitarian response focuses on underserved and hard to reach areas. Inclusion of women and girls and people with disabiliites were ensured in every allocation. About 97 per cent of all projects are contributing to gender equality while 3 per cent of the total targeted beneficiaries are people with disabilities. Direct implementation through national NGOs and strengthening localization remained a priority as 71 per cent of partners funded are national NGOs. The SHF continues to demonstrate its agility, in rapidly supporting the response to the recurrent climatic shocks with support from donor countries that enable the Fund to benefit about 3.7M people under various interventions.
