KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Humanitarian partners are working with the Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Member States to respond to the impact of the Gu (April to June) rains and have reached 201,000 people with assistance. (OCHA situation report No.3)

  • On May 23rd, the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Women and Human Rights, Physicians Across Continent, Midwifery Schools, WHO, and UNFPA commemorated the International Day to End Obstetric Fistula in Mogadishu.

  • On May 30th, 2024, under the leadership of the Ministry of Health and with support from UNFPA, a validation session for the Somalia Reproductive Health Commodity Security (RHCS) Roadmap (2024-2028) was held in Mogadishu.

  • Since the Epi week 1 of 2024, cholera cases have risen significantly, totaling 14,389 new cases with 122 deaths (1.0% CFR). In May alone, 2,421 cases and 16 deaths were reported (Weeks 20-22).
