1. ON 5 NOVEMBER 1995 HEAVY RAINS AND FLOODING CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE IN PARTS OF MOGADISHU. PRELIMINARY INFORMATION INDICATES THAT AT LEAST 20 PEOPLE DIED AS A RESULT OF THE FLOODING AND THE COLLAPSING OF BUILDINGS IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE CITY.

2. THE CAMPS FOR INTERNAL DISPLACED PERSONS, ARE AMONG THE WORST AFFECTED AREAS IN MOGADISHU.

3. UN AGENCIES IN SOMALIA HELD AN EMERGENCY MEETING IN NAIROBI, KENYA, TODAY TO REVIEW THE SITUATION AND DISCUSS PLANS TO ADDRESS THE URGENT NEEDS OF THE AFFECTED POPULATION.

4. DHA-GENEVA IS PROVIDING AN EMERGENCY GRANT OF USD 50,000 FOR IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE TO THE POPULATION AFFECTED, AND IS PLANNING A RELIEF FLIGHT FROM ITS WAREHOUSE IN PISA, ITALY.

5. UNDP/DHA RESIDENT REPRESENTATIVE IS MONITORING THE SITUATION VERY CLOSELY.
