
During the week ending 6th May 2007, the Juba and Shabelle catchments in Somalia received moderate to heavy rains in some parts. Bardheere received a total of 132.0 mm of rainfall within two days. (see table below).

The Ethiopian side of these catchments also received moderate to heavy rains as indicated in the 7-day cumulative satellite rainfall estimate image below.
The rainfall forecast for the coming week is calling for increased rains in the central and southern coast of Somalia reducing further inland. Light rains is the forecast for the Juba and Shabelle within the Ethiopian highlands.
Moderate level risk of flooding in the lower reaches of Shabelle River in Somalia remains.
