During the week ending 27th May 2007, most parts of the Juba and Shabelle catchments in Somalia received insignificant rains with lower Juba receiving moderate rains . Northern regions of Somalia received no rains to light rains.

The Ethiopian side of Juba and Shabelle catchments received moderate rains in the upper reaches and no to light rains in the lowlands of the catchments as indicated in the 7-day cumulative satellite rainfall estimate image below. The rainfall forecast for the coming week is calling for light to moderate rains in most parts of country. The forecast is also calling for moderate rains in the upper reaches of the Ethiopian Highlands. Moderate level risk of flooding in the lower reaches of Shabelle River in Somalia remains.
