During the week ending November 12th 2007, many parts in southern Somalia received moderate to heavy rains, while the northern parts of the country received moderate rains (refer to table below).

The Ethiopian side of the Juba and Shabelle catchments received moderate to heavy rains as indicated in the 7-day cumulative satellite rainfall estimate (RFE) image below.

The rainfall forecast for the coming week is calling for moderate rainfall in Juba and Shabelle catchments both within Somalia and the Ethiopian highlands.

Given the forecast, the flood risk for Juba and Shabelle Rivers remains at moderate level, with river levels expected to increase slightly towards the end of the forecast period.
