  • Nearly 6 million people will likely require humanitarian assistance in Somalia in 2025 due to the compounding effects of climatic shocks and conflict. The 2025 HNRP requests more than $1.4 billion to deliver lifesaving assistance to 4.6 million people with the greatest need.

  • A failed October-to-December 2024 deyr rainy season is exacerbating food insecurity countrywide, according to FEWS NET. In response, the Somalia Inter-Cluster Coordination Group has developed a preparedness and anticipatory operational plan to help prevent displacement.

  • Increased armed conflict in Jubaland State since late November has amplified humanitarian need and generated new displacement as of December 16
