General update
CCCM partners in Dollow conducted a vulnerability assessment of all IDP households in Kabasa and Qansaxlay sites, reaching a total of 7,858 HHs. The data collected will provide updated population figures for both sites, as well as demographic data, and information about vulnerabilities in each HH (livelihoods, illnesses, disabilities). The purpose of the data is to allow service providers to target their services to the most vulnerable households in the camps.
CCCM conducted Eviction Risk Mapping in all IDP sites in Baidoa, Kismayo and Garowe. The mapping gathers information about the status of land lease agreements between landlords and the IDP tenants in order to identify sites that are at risk for evictions. The information is then passed to local authorities and protection partners for support to affected populations.
The first CCCM meeting was held in Afgooye. There are currently 5 NGOs implementing integrated CCCM, protection and shelter projects in the area.
CCCM partners, with the support of the GBV sub cluster, conducted a safety audit of 47 IDP sites in Kismayo. The safety audit revealed safety concerns associated with service provision in the displacement sites
With the onset of early Gu rain in March, a number of IDP sites have been severely affected by flash floods in Banadir and Bay regions. CCCM Partners, together with camp leaders, have assessed the impact of flash flooding in IDP sites in Baidoa, Kismayo and Dollow. Partners in Dollow distributed sanitation tools to the camp leadership committees in both Kabasa and Qansaxlay sites to create household level drainage and elevate shelters to mitigate effects of flash floods and also elevated flood prone areas of the sites using sandbags and backfilling with soil.
The CCCM Cluster has finalized another round of data collection in additional 19 districts through the Detailed Site Assessment (DSA) in the reporting period. The DSA - an inter-cluster and inter-agency initiative - aims provision of multi sector information on access, availability and gaps in basic service provision at the displacement sites has been carried out by CCCM Cluster partner across the 48 districts and 19 regions since September 2017 to April 2018, reaching to over 1.75 million IDPs.
