Situation Report for Acute Watery Diarrhea/Cholera, Epidemiological Week 44 (30 October – 5 November 2017)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • A total of 36 new cases of AWD were reported in week 44 compared to 26 cases in week 43 in Central zone

  • The new AWD cases were reported from 8 districts in one region, of which 100% were reported from Banadir region

  • No new death was reported in the one zone

  • A cumulative total of 60,763 cases and 820 deaths have been reported in 52 districts of 16 regions of South central and Puntland since January 2017

  • The number of AWD/Cholera cases and deaths in inaccessible areas are 4 times the number of cases and deaths in areas that are accessible

  • Of the 10 stool samples tested for AWD in Banadir region beginning of October 2017, 1 was positive for Vibrio Cholerae

  • OCV campaign conducted in Daynile and Wadajir districts in Banadir region
